Shift Summary for OWL shift, 12/22/99 (Wed.)

On Shift: Theo Alexopolous and Earl Swallow

Hours of beam available at all intensities: 2.6 (out of 7.0)
Hours of beam available at nominal intensity: 2.1
Hours of E799 data (special runs not included): 1.8
Hours of special runs (laser scans, muon runs...): 0.4 (MUONs)

Accounting of lost time & intensity:

TeV startup in progress at beginning of shift & some KFRENDs and
a Fresh Start.

========================================================================
Runs ended this shift:

15265 -- MUONs
15266 -- BEAM_799 (data quality ???)

Tapes brought to FCC this shift:

None.

========================================================================
Accesses during shift:

One, while beam was off, to check NM4AN "crash buttons."

========================================================================
Overview of shift:

The joy of data taking (with some DAQ struggles), once beam
arrived.

========================================================================
Description of Shift:

12:00 OWL Shift Begins -- with Tevatron startup in
progress.

04:22 We finally begin to get beam.

15265 04:25 Begin Run 15265 (MUONs -- SEM ~3E12).

15265 04:49 End Run 15625,

15266 05:00 Begin Run 15266 (BEAM_799 -- SEM ~8E12).

7 05:12 Accidental Counter H.V. turned ON. It was OFF for
first 6 spills. Also Theo does FixDisps to banish
herd of donkeys.

Theo re-enables monitoring of scalers -- no
(incorrect) error messages result.

05:25 No working flashlight for Gas Check!!

06:00 Problems with KTEVANA ERRORS which defy KFREND.
Theo confers with EdB.

15266 06:13 End Run 15266 to do a Fresh Start.

15267 06:23 Begin Run 15267 (BEAM_799). Display screens start
fine, but KTEVANA ERRORs return. Cycle power on
laser crate -- seems to solve problem for a while,
but then errors return.

07:00 OWL Shift ends.
