Shift Summary for DAY shift, 11/30/99 (Tue.)

On Shift: Julie Whitmore/LeoB and Earl Swallow + SL, VJ, RT ...

Hours of beam available at all intensities: 4.5 (out of 8.5)
Hours of beam available at nominal intensity: 4.5
Hours of E799 data (special runs not included): 4.5
Hours of special runs (laser scans, muon runs...): 0.0

Accounting of lost time & intensity:

TeV ramp dump and short, a few aborts and energy conservation.

========================================================================
Runs ended this shift:

15094 -- BEAM_799 (18 M triggers)
15095 -- BEAM_799 (no beam, no data)

Tapes brought to FCC this shift:

None.

========================================================================
Accesses during shift:

One (SL & VJ & RT), while beam is off, to diagnose VV'.

========================================================================
Overview of shift:

Smooth data taking until TeV breaks.

========================================================================
Description of Shift:

15094 07:00 DAY Shift Begins in the wee hours of the morning.
Smooth running in progress.

09:30 DAMP finally restarted by Margaret -- it died during
previous shift. We have some doubts about the
indication that tapes are a bit less than 50% full.

11:15 Online split requests UPF053 ---> KTEV1/tps3d2.

15094 11:28 Beam OFF -- TeV ramp dump. Ops investigating.
We decide to use this time to END RUN and do
drt_fresh_start.

11:35 Online split requests UPLA02 ---> KTEV3/tps2d3.

15095 11:40 Start Run 15095 - BEAM_799 in expectation of beam.

12:20 Still no beam.

15095 12:25 End Run 15095 -- NO DATA.

15096 12:27 Start COSMIC run 15096 and make access (SL & VJ)
to diagnose VV' systems.
RickT paged and comes in for this.

15096 15:30 Shift ends with a whimper, not a BANG -- still no
beam, but TeV coming up.
