Shift Summary for DAY shift, 11/21/99 (Sun.)

On Shift: Hogan Nguyen and Earl Swallow

Hours of beam available at all intensities: 8.3 (out of 8.5)
Hours of beam available at nominal intensity: 8.3
Hours of E799 data (special runs not included): 7.1
Hours of special runs (laser scans, muon runs...): 0.0

Accounting of lost time & intensity:

Energy conservation, KFRENDs, Tape Change, KTEV2 crash.

========================================================================
Runs ended this shift:

15024 -- BEAM_799 (19.9 M triggers)
15025 -- BEAM_799 ( 2.5 M triggers -- abnormal termination)

Tapes brought to FCC this shift:

UPA,B,C166-168, UPS056 -- Runs 15022, 15024
UPA,B,C169-171, UPS057 -- Run 15025 (abnormal end of run)

========================================================================
Accesses during shift:

None.

========================================================================
Overview of shift:

Smooth data taking (with improving time structure) until KTEV2
crash. Occasional pulses as high as 10.3E12 without problem.

========================================================================
Description of Shift:

15024 07:00 DAY Shift Begins -- smooth running in progress but
with occasional alarms for low livetime, etc.

11:00 As shift has propgressed, spill has improved.
With intensities of 9.3-9.9 E12, we see livetimes of
63% - 67%.

12:08 Online Split requests mount of UPX013 on
KTEV3/tps2d3. [UPX tapes found after brief search.]

15024 13:02 END Run 15024.

15025 13:17 BEGIN Run 15025 -- BEAM_799.

161 14:38 Smooth shift "goes South."
Run 15025 ENDS -- DDD VETO 2 busy ON, run STOP
hangs...

Tapes removed because they may not have end of file
marks.

Problems rebooting KTEV2. After assistance from EdB,
an old LARGE crash file is found (in addition to
the current one) which blocks disk access -- file
deleted, and then KTEV2 comes back to life.

15:30 Unfortunately, DAY shift is over by then.
