Overview of shift:

Smooth 799 data-taking except for L3 accept fraction problem
at end of run 14856.

BobT solicits advice from Jurgen (of SELEX) on how to increase L3
process cpu usage on the filter planes from ~75% to ~95%. The basic
scheme is to:
o restrict L3 processes to run on specific cpu's
o restrict gatektev to run on cpu 0 (where it must in order to service
PTVME interrupts)
o run with one less L3 process in order to not compete with gatektev on cpu 0
Sydney implements advice with desired effect.
Details in XXII.114 and ~da_ktev/doc/L3_change_oct18.txt.
Changes were made in: run control, l3proc/BEAM_799,
launchl3, watchl3.cra, l3#stat.

PLEASE NOTE: there is now one fewer L3 process on each filter plane.

The Mets won 6 to 3 over the Braves on a grand slam in the bottom
of the 15th inning!
