Shift Summary for DAY shift, 07/06/99 (Tue.)

On Shift: Val Prasad & Earl Swallow

Hours of beam available at all intensities: 6.7 (out of 8.5)
Hours of beam available at nominal intensity: 6.1
Hours of E832 data (special runs not included): 6.1
Hours of special runs (laser scans, muon runs...): 0.0

Accounting of lost time & intensity:

TEV aborts, SY energy conservation, TLG clock problems.

Runs ended this shift: None

Tapes brought to FCC this shift: None

========================================================================
Accesses during shift:

None: we resisted the temptation!

========================================================================
Overview of shift:

Quiet shift with a few accelerator problems.

Description of Shift:

run spill time comment
------------------------------------------------------------------------
13827 1 ~07:00 Begin BEAM_832 Run -- real data again.

07:35 Repeated TEV aborts @ A0 ==> no beam.

08:43 Message says "Tevatron aborts at injection
due to bad diploe corrector at VE45 --
Estimate 20 minutes.

86 08:59 3.4E11 Beam returns

09:32 After a few more aborts, we come up to nominal
intensity (~5E12).

144 10:16 Continue to have frequent missed spill due to SY
energy conservation.

219 11:58 Outside temperature = 82 F & 84 F in Gas Shed.
Changing the blue ice packs every 1.5 hours
keeps the alcohol chiller temperature in the
range -4.4 to -4.8 C

afternoon.

310 ~14:00 Outside temp. = 83 F & 89 F in Gas Shed with sun
beating down on it. Blue ice keeps alcohol
chiller at about -4.3 to -4.4 C.

332 14:40 Beam stops due to TLG clock problems.

344 14:53 Beam returns.

370 15:30 Shift ends with smooth running (after KFRNDs).

========================================================================
Follow up Notes on Previous Shift

Continue to put "blue ice" on DC alcohol chiller and watch temperature.

========================================================================
Items to Follow up on Next Shift

Continue to put "blue ice" on DC alcohol chiller and watch temperature.
